The Longer Version
I’m a health writer and coach in Pelham, Alabama with a passion for delicious, nourishing food. I graduated with two degrees in culinary arts which heavily influence my approach to food and how to make it work for my life instead of the other way around.
Just a few short years ago, it was a different story. After some difficulty managing stressful life situations and the emotional results, I became overweight for the first time in my life. I had very little energy, sluggish digestion, non-existent stress coping skills, and a feeling of hopelessness when it came to doing anything about any of it. One day the pain outweighed the complacency, and I decided it was time to change.
The more I experimented with food, activity, and mindset, the more I realized how important it is to be mindful of the whole wellness spectrum. What I mean by that is this: it’s important not to focus on just a couple of aspects of health. Sleep, thought work, laughter, stress management, doing things you enjoy and being as fully present as possible to enjoy the moments of your life are all essential parts of wellness. I never dieted, counted or weighed my food, yet effectively shed 20 lbs and have kept it off. It IS possible.
